Meet Steve – The Voice Behind If Walls Could Talk
“From Rock & Roll Dreams to Painting Excellence”
I never planned on becoming a painter. Growing up in the ’60s and ’70s – arguably the greatest era for music – I had my sights set on becoming a rock star. Like a lot of musicians, I learned quickly that passion doesn’t always pay the rent.
Through a bandmate whose family was in the wallpaper business, I took a job learning the trade, starting at the very bottom – loading vans, cleaning up, and doing whatever it took to learn. Within months I was hanging wallpaper, and before long, customers began asking if I painted as well. That led to hands-on, real-world training and eventually running my own business in my early twenties.
By day, I worked in customers’ homes. By night, I rehearsed and performed regularly throughout the Jersey Shore, New York City, and Connecticut club circuits. Along the way, I had the opportunity to open for and play alongside nationally known acts, including Huey Lewis and the News, Joan Jett, the Ramones, Bon Jovi, Skid Row, and Southside Johnny.
While music was an incredible chapter of my life, it became clear that building a successful painting business was the path forward. Since then, I’ve worked in over 2,500 homes and numerous commercial properties.
Today, I’m grateful for the journey and genuinely love what I do. I may not climb ladders anymore, but my purpose is clear: helping homeowners fall in love with their homes again.
